Two Home Games, Two Carpathia FC Wins

The weekend of June 3-5 was an exciting one for Carpathia FC who came out with two wins. This result would leave them with nine points from three straight home wins.

On Friday, June 3, Carpathia FC had a hard fought battle with Oakland County FC but prevailed 1-0. The team hosted just its second home game of the season at L’Anse Creuse High School-North. The game stayed even throughout the first half, leading to a 0-0 score coming off the 45th minute. Carpathia FC came out strong to start the second half having shots that were just narrowly saved by the Oakland County FC goalkeeper. Persistence would pay off for the Carpathia team, particularly for Dane Laird. In the final minute of the game, Carpathia FC refused to take a draw with the league leaders as Dane Laird found the back of the net. Shortly after, Carpathia’s goalkeeper Scott Messer would sustain a head injury that would leave him out of Sunday’s game. He walked off with the trainer but not without knowing he helped lead Carpathia FC to their 1-0 victory over Oakland County FC.

On Sunday, June 5, the team seemed much more comfortable as it beat Ole Soccer 3-1. Just nine minutes into the game, Tommy Catalano found the back of the net as he easily passed the ball past the Ole Soccer goalkeeper. Just six minutes later in the fifteenth minute, Catalano would get an assist as he passed it to Joey Tinnion who hit the post but was able to score off his own rebound. After a yellow card to the Ole Soccer goalkeeper, Colin Helmrich found the back of the net off Tinnion. Carpathia FC would end the half leading Ole Soccer 3-0. While Carpathia FC dominated the game, they were not able to continue to grow the lead in the second half. Ole Soccer came out strong and were able to narrow the lead to 3-1 in the 63rd minute. Play remained even the rest of the match.

Players stayed after the game to sign an eager fan's jersey.
