Tryout Recap

Carpathia FC had the opportunity to host two tryout sessions this year at Avondale High School. Originally planned for one session, another was needed due to players who couldn’t make the first session and players the coaching staff wanted to see again. We had the opportunity to meet with Assistant coach / director of player development Marcel Schmid and get his feelings on the past weekend. “I think that over the past two weekends we had a great opportunity to play a high level of soccer and see some new talent that could potentially help us in the 2017 season. Although it is always tough to pick and choose which players we want to invite back and let go, I feel the ones we did will help us achieve the goals we have set for this year “. Marcel ran both training sessions while head coach Bruce Wilden observed potential incoming players. Marcel said “I wanted to work on a little bit of fitness at the start to show incoming and returning players the level of fitness that we expect to be at to be successful in this years season. After that we worked on quick touches and  transition games, keep away, small sided games and ended with a full 11 V 11 scrimmage. We still have players who will be arriving from College and ones who couldn’t make it who will fill important roles on the team. Overall we had successful tryout sessions with 30 plus kids”.

Carpathia FC would like to thank all those who tried out and congratulate the returning and new players to the team. We look forward to the 2017 season.
